Brief Overview

Born in South Carolina in August 1964, Mary-Louise Parker attended the North Carolina School of the Arts, where she majored in acting. After a string of off-Broadway plays in the late 1980s, she garnered a Tony nomination for her first Broadway role in "Prelude to a Kiss" (1990). Continuing to gain acclaim for her theater work, Mary-Louise branched out into film and television, with notable roles in Fried Green Tomatoes, The Client and Boys on the Side. In late 2000, she returned to the Broadway stage in "Proof", for which she won every theater award possible. Mary-Louise followed up with fantastic performances on the hit series "The West Wing" and in the mini-series "Angels in America" (both of which earned her Emmy nominations, and a win for the later). She can currently be seen on the Showtime series "Weeds", for which she recently won a Golden Globe, and in the upcoming film The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.
